PROJECTConverting from A to Z a 1932 duplex into a cottage.
This 1932 duplex located in the Little Italy neighbourhood was bought by a Montreal film director in 2010. In addition to converting his newly acquired property into a cottage, the film-maker wanted his house to be, most of all: healthy, warm, soundproof, bright and minimalist. To honour Thomas’ design, the lines and the surfaces had to be flawless. The courtyard, which was treated as a room in itself, required a transition that had to be sober and coherent with the two surrounding spaces.
