Making music on McGill

This two-storey condo on the waterfront in Old Montreal was reworked according to a singular set of criteria--combine a functional recording studio with a dream bachelor pad.

Two bedrooms and bathrooms were gutted to open up the space for a DJ booth/recording station with integrated minibar. A walk-in closet and immense bathroom face the master bedroom. Double-length windows open the second-floor office/sound studio to a breathtaking view of downtown Montreal and the Old Port.

The project’s design was driven by a refined, almost deliberately cold esthetic. Wood accents, warm halogen lighting and a few specially designed accessories act as organic counterbalance.

This project won La Firme three awards – the Fantini Design Award 2018, the Design Excellence Award 2018 de l’APDC IDA and more recently the Kitchen Design Contest 2017-18 from Wolf/Subzero international contest. It was also featured in the January/February 2019 edition of the Azure Magazine.
